Vicky has a long-standing personal commitment to improving public health and reducing health inequalities, with a track record of partnership working in multi-agency environments and with diverse communities. As a results-oriented Public Health specialist with 21 years of experience gained in the UK and overseas, Vicky has worked in five different London Boroughs and in regional roles. More recently she extended her portfolio as Director of Public Health in Redbridge (East London) to include leisure and culture, adult social care, and the development of an integrated community health model across four localities.
In her current role Vicky supports the Mayor’s statutory health adviser, and leads the GLA health team focused on: delivering programmes for Londoners (including healthy schools, early years, and workplaces); developing the Mayor’s London health inequalities strategy; supporting a ‘health in all policies’ approach across the GLA group; and supporting the Mayor to champion and challenge the health and care system.
The London health inequalities strategy was published in autumn 2018. With partners, the health team are currently progressing work on social prescribing, violence reduction, child obesity, and mental health in line with the Mayor’s manifesto commitments.
Vicky chaired the Association of Directors of Public Health in London from 2015-2018, and mentors new Directors. She is educational supervisor to Public Health registrars, and a Faculty of Public Health examiner.
